Hi Everybody, my name is Bob Martin, but a lot of people call me “MindanaoBob,” so I’ve kind of adopted that name as sort of my “Internet Brand” if you known what I mean.
Why “Mindanao” Bob? Well, because my name is Bob, I live in Mindanao (and Island in the Philippines), and I do a lot to promote Mindanao over the Internet.
How did the name come about?
Well, the name came about one day in a mall. One day while I was at the mall for a haircut a fellow came running up from behind and screaming. He jumped in front of me and said “Aren’t you Bob?” I said, “yes I am.” “Mindanao Bob?” he replied. From that the name was coined, and I’ve been using it ever since. I like the nickname, because Mindanao is a place that is close to my heart. I love the place, so much, and having a nickname that includes the place that I love means a lot to me. So, Mindanao Bob I am, and proud for it.

I visited Mindanao three weeks ago! I got close to Davao but only to the provence Sarangani we visited the Lake Agko. I even met the Vice Governor at the Parilla Resort one evening. We stayed at GenSan the East Asia Royale for two weeks. I’ve never been out of the US before this and it was the best time ever! My Son is now engaged to his true love after killing a chicken and climbing a coconut tree to win her hand! LOL I can not say enough about the visit I’d like to return there someday too. If you have a myspace you can be my friend and see our photos. Maybe I’ll get to meet you the next go round

Being born and raised in GenSan, i do have so much wondeful mem’ries to share growing up in a nice and quiet farm house & lot in “Katangawan”..:) It’s nice to find so many good writings about Mindanao once in while. It makes me relive the good mem’ries back home. You have contributed alot by continuosly writing so many wonderful things about Mindanao! As it is a truly beautiful place that has so many things to offer. I take pride on this for I remember sometime ago i would get this scared look on people’s face by just saying im from Mindanao!
