Bob, I’m contemplating of converting to Singapore citizenship from a Philippine Citizenship but this requires me renouncing my PH citizenship. If I renounce my curretn citizenship(PH), does it mean that I become a dual citizen instead of losing my PH citizenship (in light of the Memorandum Circular No. AFF-04-01). Thanks, JohnHere is Bob’s answer:
Hi John – When you renounce your Philippine Citizenship to gain Singapore Citizenship, you will lose your Philippine Citizenship. At that point, you go to the Philippine Embassy in Singapore and apply for dual citizenship. Your Philippine Citizenship will then be restored, and you should be able to keep both (although you should check Singapore law).Thank you, John, for visiting Philippine Dual Citizenship, and good luck with your Singapore Citizenship!
