Good day, I would like to ask what visa my fiancee should have so he can stay in the Philippines for 3months. We plan to get married on November. After reading some of the post, Im kinda confuse which path should we follow . 1. After getting married, go to nearby asian country and come back have his passport stamp with BB visa Will it be ok, if we do it less than a month after our marriage. Are we just gonna present our marriage license or do i need to show them my passport. My passport will still hold my maiden surname coz passport application here in phil will take a long time to process. 2. Option, extend the 21 days free visa to 59 and it will have a total of 80 days? Will the immigration question his return ticket dated january next year? if he dont have a visa. 3.Or can he just apply a tourist visa in canada instead just to make sure he can stay here for long time? What kind of visa should he get, coz we plan to go to singapore and look for a job there and then come back to phil if were unlucky. thanks for the help. AnneHello Anne, Any of the options you list will work. Here are my thoughts on each: 1. Balikbayan Visa would give him a full year to stay, very convenient. You must enter the country together, and present your marriage license. Be sure to tell the BoI officials that you wish to avail of the Balikbayan Privilege for your husband. He will get a one year stay in the country. 2. When you extend the tourist visa at the end of 21 days stay, you can only renew for an additional 38 days, giving a 59 day maximum on that Visa. At the end of 59 days you can then extend for an additional 60 days, up to a total of 16 months. 3. He can’t “stay a long time” after such an application, but he could stay up to 6 months if he applies in Canada, if approved. Personally, I’d just come in on a tourist visa for 21 days, and extend it when necessary, until he can get his resident visa – a 13(a) Visa. Good luck to you and your fiancee.
