I’m looking for interaction

If you love blogging, interact with those who love you!

I enjoy interaction. I like to be engaged. These are two of the main things I am looking for when I read blogs in the Internet. There are millions of blogs on the Internet, literally.  A large number of those, though, are sort of on autopilot - posts show up, but beyond that, there really is nothing much more. To me, a blog should be interactive.  You post an article.  If you have a big enough reader base, some of your readers will respond by posting a comment with their thoughts and opinions on the subject that you wrote about.  Should that be the end of things?  In my opinion, no, it should not.  As a blogger, you really should … [Read more...]

Multi-Author Blogging

In my last article, Leveraging your online popularity, I talked about getting others to write content for your site, and getting it for free.  I told how setting up something like that will help you lessen your own workload while also helping you earn more money from your online endeavors. This might sound too good to be true, but believe me, it is absolutely true, and I am going to show you how you can do it.  One of the first steps is that you really need to stop treating your online activities as a hobby, and treat it as a business.  When you start devoting the time to your online activities like you would do it were a business, that is … [Read more...]

Leveraging your online popularity

I’ve been writing lately about turning your online earning from a hobby to a business.  Part of the key here is changing the way you think.  But, there are other things that you need to do as well, if you want to establish a serious online business. One of your first steps is going to be to develop a following online.  Whether you have a website, a blog, an e-commerce store or a combination of all of these, you won’t really achieve huge success until, or unless you develop a crowd of people who follow you online.  Even if you manage to become very popular online, you still need to turn that level of online success into something … [Read more...]

It’s a business!

In the past few weeks, I have read a number of articles on the net, on various blogs that had a similar theme.  Reading these articles really reinforced some things that I already believe, and helped me reconsider those thoughts, and as I reconsidered, I came to the same conclusion that I had already developed in the past, which was the conclusion of the authors of the articles too. Basically, the theme of these articles is about earning money online, and the fact that doing so is a business, not just a time to play around.  Many people start blogging, or some other way of earning money online, and they will put AdSense ads, or something similar … [Read more...]

I’ve been absent!

A killer Mosquito!

Hi everybody.  I hope there are still a few people following my personal site!  I've been absent from this site for a bit now.  Unfortunately, back at the beginning of September I got ill, and was quite sick for quite a while! I got a case of Dengue Fever.  Dengue is a tropical disease that is caused by mosquito bites.  Dengue is deadly in about 5% of those who contract the disease.  I was lucky, though, I lived through it!  Actually, it can take up to about 6 months to fully recover from a case of dengue fever, although after a month or 6 weeks, the worst affects of the disease have generally passed.  So, while I am not 100% recovered, … [Read more...]

Breaking up is hard to do

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote a post about Wordpress, and the fact that there were just way too many updates, plug-ins that needed updates, etc.  Honestly, I have been doing some searching, looking for the right client to move to.  There are literally dozens of blogging and CMS (Content Management System) clients out there to choose from.  Some of them are pretty good, others are not so good.  No piece of software is perfect, no doubt about that. I do want to leave Wordpress and move on to something that is more stable, in terms of not having to do constant upgrades.  For a person who has one blog, or a couple, it's probably not a big deal … [Read more...]

Stop the treadmill! I think I want to get off!

I'm having one of those days today.  You know the kind of day I am talking about - one of those days when you work hard for the entire day, and at the end of the day, you feel like you didn't do anything.  I don't like those days. I blame Wordpress. "Why Wordpress," you say? Well, I blame Wordpress because it has become like a treadmill that never stops.  First of all, you have a never ending parade of updates to the software.  As soon as you update to a new version and get all the kinks worked out, it seems like there is a new, critical security update that you have to do immediately!  If you don't update on time, it's like running around … [Read more...]

MyBlogLog Server getting slow?

Are you familiar with MyBlogLog?  They have a little widget that you can put on your blog that shows who your recent visitors to your blog are.  Of course, only visitors who are registered with MyBlogLog will show up there, but that's OK. I am having a problem with that widget, though.  It's slow!  Have you noticed?  I am finding that my sites hang up waiting for MyBlogLog to load!  Actually, it often shows that it is trying to connect to MyBlogLog, and that holds up the whole rest of the page from loading.  Have you noticed this?  I am considering removing MyBlogLog from my sites because it is getting too slow.  I like MyBlogLog, because … [Read more...]
