Davao del Sur. Feyma and I on a visit to Santa Maria, Davao del Sur. What a beautiful place. We spent the day at the beach called "Little Boracay." At the Provincial Capitol Building in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat. Very beautiful, and the people in SK were very friendly, even gave me a personaized tour of the place. The Central Mosque in Tugaya, Lanao del Sur. This Mosque was designed and built by the father of a good friend of mine, Ash Tamano. My visit to Tugaya was a really interesting adventure!
On a visit to Agusan del Sur, I am inspecting some Palm Oil Pods. There is a fairly large scale Palm Oil farming in Agusan. This wonderful monument to brotherly love is located in the municipality of Naawan, Misamis Oriental. It shows the hands of Christianity and Islam meeting in the middle of the highway. I have visited Naawan many times over the years! I visited Pikit, North Cotabato. Pikit is a nice little town, although it has a reputation of being a war torn area. Back in 2000 during Erap's "all out war" in Mindanao Pikit was indeed a victim to bombing runs by the Philippine Air Force.
On my visit to Basilan the first thing I saw when I got off the boat was this sign - "Welcome to the Island Paradise of Basilan" - Wow, I bet some people don't consider it an Island Paradise though! I did enjoy visiting Basilan, and I learned a lot there This small island sits about 750 meters from the pier in Balingoan, Misamis Oriental. Notice the cross at a memorial site at the center of the island. Some time back, I made a visit to Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte. It was a bit of a stormy day when I was there, but I found the place to be quite nice. I'm looking forward to visiting again.
In Tawi-Tawi with Juana Sahali, the wife of Governor Sahali. Riding in a speedboat confiscated from the Abu Sayyaf just a week earlier! Bongao Peak in the background. A storm is rolling in to Surigao del Norte Province. I've been to Surigao del Norte several times now, it's a lovely place to visit. How about some strawberries? These strawberries were locally grown in Bukidnon. I bought these strawberries (and more!) from a vendor along the highway in Bukidnon last April. Quite delicious!
While visiting Cotabato City I came upon this nice lady selling peanuts. Along the same part of the sidewalk there was also a nice selection of fruits. Lots of beauty in Cotabato City! Bob & Feyma standing under the entry sign at Chema's by the Sea Resort. On Samal Island, Davao del Norte. This is part of Del Monte's pineapple plantation in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon Province. It is huge, and there are multiple growing fields around the Bukidnon area.
In honor of the huge landslide that occurred yesterday in Pantukan, Compostela Valley. I visited Pantukan one time before, it's generally a small quiet little place, not much going on there. I went to Dinagat Island, Mindanao's newest Province, in 2009. Beautiful place, and what an adventure I had there. Only downside was that I caught Dengue Fever while in Dinagat! Yikes! I visited Wao, Lanao del Sur a while back. Wao is one of the few places in Lanao del Sur that has a significant Christian population. I found it to be a nice place!
This magnicent old building is Zamboanga City Hall. It's quite a historical look, don't you think? When I visited Zamboanga City, Asia's Latin City by the way, I really enjoyed exploring the place! Here is a picture of what you see when you arrive at Zamboanga City Airport, welcoming you to Asia's Latin City! There is always an abundance of great fruit in Davao City. Bananas, Oranges, Pomelo, Apples, Green Mango... it's all here, and many more! Here, I am showing my friend from Marilao, Bulacan, Dave Starr what fruits can be found in Davao.
The Capitol Building in Bongao, Tawi Tawi. Tawi Tawi is the southernmost Province in the Philippines, within 20 Km from Malaysia. Beautiful place. Lun Padidu is a small village in Sarangani Province. I have been there many times, as my wife's family lives in the area. Lots of farming in the Lun Padidu area, and lots of friendly people too. Bislig City is probably one of the larger Cities in Surigao del Sur, although it is still quite a small place. I visited Bislig a few years ago and found it charming. The drive to get there is a real tough drive, though, over some very bad dirt roads!
Bulingan Falls in Lamitan, Basilan. The location of the falls is somewhat remote, it took us about 30 minutes of driving from Lamitan City to reach the falls. It was worth the drive, though! Feyma and I in Tugaya, Lanao del Sur. Check out that Crocodile Cannon on the ground in front of us. It is actually a functioning cannon in the form of a crocodile! Wow! Very cool. The Municipal Building in San Francisco, Agusan del Sur. I have been to San Francisco many times and have a couple of good friends there. Nice place to visit!
The simple life in Bukidnon. I bet these people don't have the worries that we have in the City. Simple life, clean environment, what more could they ask? Bukidnon sure is a beautiful place! These lumad girls were participants in the Kahalaan Festival in Davao a couple of years ago. One thing I really love about Davao is that it is such a melting pot of many different cultures. The first time I visited Marawi City, Lanao del Sur, in 2006. This Mosque is adjacent to the Municipal Building in Marawi. It's quite a beautiful Mosque. I really like the colors.

Mindanao sure is a beautiful place. There are so many legends that tell of how it was favored by the gods and many gave such favors to its people. Seeing places like this in your travels makes you think the legends could almost be true.
