app_sphere_doubleclick-150x150

Continuing our series on designing a new website, and keeping money making in mind as you go through the steps of conceptualizing the site and getting it set up, today we will look at how you can best deliver ads to your readers in a way that will make you the most money.  In our last article in the series, we talked about choosing a platform on which to build your site.  I think that today I might tell you about something that many people seem not to know about. What is it that I have in mind, which you may not know about?  Well, I call it GAM, because it used to be named Google Ad Manager.  The name was changed last year to … [Read more...]

Designing a new site: Platform

content_management_systems-150x150

OK, so I recently started a new series of articles called “Designing a new site” and this is the second article in the series.  Today’s article will be about choosing a platform for your new site. What do I mean by “platform”?  Well, I mean what kind of software will the site be built upon?  Maybe you won’t have a software platform at all, but these days, most sites do.  For me, I build nearly 100% of my sites on the WordPress platform.  WordPress is blogging software, but these days a lot of people are using it for Content Management as well.   What is Content Management?  Well, generally, Content … [Read more...]

Is it a sin to make money on the Internet?

make-money-online1-150x150

Is it a sin to make money on the Internet?  Is anything wrong with it?  Is it evil? Personally, I think not.  In fact, I find it natural to use the Internet to make money.  I am not talking about some rip-off scheme, no get rich quick scheme, nothing like that.  I am talking about doing honest work in exchange for money, and using the Internet to conduct that business.  However, truth is… there are a lot of people who think that everything on the Internet should be free.  They think it is evil to charge money for anything that happens on the Internet.  I don’t think so. You can make money online, but you actually have to … [Read more...]

On one of my websites, I have a stable of writers who all contribute to the site.  My rule with these writers is that I want them to submit a minimum of one original article per week.  They can write more than once per week, but once per week is the minimum, uless there are some kind of special circumstances.  I don't pay the people to write on the site. So, you may be asking... if I don't pay people, why do they write for the site?  How can I enforce rules on them like how often they must write?  Well, you see, this site is a high traffic site, with literally thousands of readers each and every day.  The people who write on the site … [Read more...]

Tom Nixon: Internet Business for the masses!

tcn2-150x150

Today on Web-Earner, we have a Guest Article from my friend and fellow Internet Businessman, Tom Nixon.  I have known Tom for several years now through our various Internet Ventures.  Our paths crossed online, and we have been friends ever since.  We haven’t met in person, but I feel a close kinship with Tom.  Tom offered to write this article, and I happily accepted.  Thank you for your contribution, Tom! Tom Nixon Bob Martin expends a great deal of energy touting Internet business for the masses. He believes that, with the right idea and the right effort, most folks could successfully run an online venture. And he’s right. The … [Read more...]

It’s a business!

businesspeople

In the past few weeks, I have read a number of articles on the net, on various blogs that had a similar theme.  Reading these articles really reinforced some things that I already believe, and helped me reconsider those thoughts, and as I reconsidered, I came to the same conclusion that I had already developed in the past, which was the conclusion of the authors of the articles too. Basically, the theme of these articles is about earning money online, and the fact that doing so is a business, not just a time to play around.  Many people start blogging, or some other way of earning money online, and they will put AdSense ads, or something … [Read more...]

I’ve been absent!

Natural-mosquito3

Hi everybody.  I hope there are still a few people following my personal site!  I've been absent from this site for a bit now.  Unfortunately, back at the beginning of September I got ill, and was quite sick for quite a while! I got a case of Dengue Fever.  Dengue is a tropical disease that is caused by mosquito bites.  Dengue is deadly in about 5% of those who contract the disease.  I was lucky, though, I lived through it!  Actually, it can take up to about 6 months to fully recover from a case of dengue fever, although after a month or 6 weeks, the worst affects of the disease have generally passed.  So, while I am not 100% … [Read more...]

It’s like TV Guide for the Internet!

TV-Guide-150x150

A few days ago, I was watching the news on TV.  Since I live in the Philippines, I was watching the Philippine news, on a Philippine TV station.  They were talking about how the company that owns the channel I was watching was going to put up about 5 new digital TV channels.  During the discussion, they mentioned other TV channels that were owned by this particular broadcaster.  I don’t know for sure, but I would guess that this company probably owns between a dozen to 20 different TV channels. This whole discussion kicked off a thought in my mind.  I am a publisher.  I have a lot of websites where I publish information on the … [Read more...]

Choosing the right tools for your trade

Computer-Tools-150x150

No matter what your trade, choosing the correct tools to do your job right is an important thing to do. If you are a carpenter, you need to choose good quality hand tools – saws, hammers, etc.  I, as a layman when it comes to carpentry do not need the highest quality hammer, because frankly, I would not use it often enough, or with the precision of a craftsman in the trade.  If I want to check my blood pressure, I can purchase a home grade instrument for checking blood pressure.  If I were a doctor, though, I would certainly want to buy a high quality instrument to use on my patients. Hammer The same holds true if you are, or want to … [Read more...]

Facebook is for dummies!

Facebook-Icon-150x150

I hear this kind of thing from a broad spectrum of people on a regular basis.  They just feel that Facebook and other Social Networking sites are not a place for a serious Internet Entrepreneur.  Facebook is for kids.  Facebook is for playing Farmville. Facebook is not serious.  I hate Facebook.  Well, those are the kinds of things I hear on a pretty much daily basis from people I talk to. Facebook Login You know what?  I disagree.  In my experience, Facebook has made me a lot of money.  I use Facebook daily.  I have about 2,100 friends on Facebook (if you want to be my friend, just click here and friend me!) and if I have some … [Read more...]
