Today we have a question from “Therapist.”
Here is Therapist’s question:
I am an american citizen. i am wanting to stay in the philippen how would i do that would a passport work?
Thank you for writing. Simple question, very simple! But, the amount of information you gave is not very complete. I will give you the best answer that I can.
The simple answer is that yes, because you are an American Citizen, your passport alone will get you into the Philippines. But, that will give you only a 21 day stay in the country. However, you can pay for extensions, roughly every two months bringing your total allowable stay up to about 16 months, or 24 months if you get special permission. For full information on this, please read about Philippine Tourist Visas.
Alternatively, if you have a Filipino spouse, you can get a resident visa that will let you stay here permanently. Read about Philippine Resident Visas.
A third option, if you do not have a Filipino spouse would be to obtain an SRRV Visa, which is a Special Resident’s Retirement Visa.
Good luck to you, Therapist.
