Today, Michelle wrote in with a question regarding citizenship and her child.
Here is Michelle’s question:
SIR BOB, I was married to a KOREAN. I stayed less than 2 yrs.in Korea, therefore i am still an alien.. i have a 1yr.old child,i would like to know how will i going to apply her a dual citizenship?
And, here is my answer for Michelle:
Hello Michelle – This is actually very simple for you to accomplish. Since you were a Philippine Citizen at the time of your child’s birth (and you still are a Philippine Citizen), you need to contact the Philippine Embassy in Korea and file a report of birth abroad for your child. Once that report is filed, your child will be a citizen of both Korea and the Philippines.
Good luck to you and your child, Michelle!
