Today we got a comment and question from Evelyn Macintosh.
Here is what Evelyn had to say:
It is true that there is a lot of benefits for having dual citizenship. My husband and I had been married for almost 22 years and for 16 years I kept my Filipino citizenship since we owe some properties here. Then in 2004 I decided to apply for a US citizenship while we were back in the states. Then in 2008 I called the Chicago consulate and asked if I can apply for a dual citizenship with our four children. I was very pleased when I found out how fast the processing was and was surprised how accommodating and friendly the staff in the Philippine embassy were. In our experienced I find it more efficient and easier to process our paper outside the Philippines.
And here is Bob’s response to Evelyn:
Hi Evelyn – I’m glad that everything worked out for you! I do believe that it’s a good idea to go for the dual if you are eligible, and your experience seems to confirm my feelings.
Thank you for visiting, Evelyn, and good luck.
