Today we got a comment and question from Jose.
Here is what Jose had to say:
Hola.. my daughter was born in the Philippines in 2004 and was issued a filipino passport, she is now a citizen of mexico. since the new law was enacted in 2004 I was wondering if she lost her filipino citizenship?? … i don’t recall her having to renounce her citizenship when she became a mexican citizen, which by the way i processed in manila. My citizenship is mexican.. my wifes is Filipino/mexican…love your website by the way, looking to move back to the philippines in a couple years so im starting the research early!
I hope this makes sense
And here is Bob’s response to Jose:
Hi Jose – Provided that your wife still holds Philippine Citizenship, and she was a Filipino citizen at the time of your child’s birth, I see no reason why your daughter would not be a dual citizen at this point. She is too young to have taken an oath of allegiance to Mexico anyway.
Good luck on your move!
Thank you for visiting, Jose, and good luck on your move to the Philippines.
